FREE Credit Reports
for Maryland Residents
Save Money--Read my review of
Vonage Digital Voice Internet Phone Company
Did
you know that Maryland residents qualify for an absolutely
free credit report from the credit reporting agencies (Equifax,
Experian,TransUnion). This also applies to residents of CO, GA, MD, MA, NJ, VT. Just call the agencies and request your
free report--you are allowed one report from each agency every
year:
EquiFax: 1-800-685-1111 (credit file is free, credit score is not)
Experian: 1-888-397-3742 (be careful to dial
this one correctly it is 888 not 800)
TransUnion 1-800-888-4213 (skip past the first free options and listen specifically for them to mention free reports for Marylanders)
Also, see annualCreditReport.com.
While
you are at it, write to the following addresses to get your
name taken off of telemarketing lists. The letter should state
your name, address and telephone number. After you are placed
on these no-call lists, companies who call you anyway can
be fined big (see the Direct
Marketing Association website):

You may also want to call this telephone number to request
opt out from mailing lists generated by Credit reporting companies.1-
888-567-8688.
You may also want to visit this website: It provides the same tones that telezapper uses
to make telemarketing dialers think your number is disconnected. Just add them
to the begining of your answering machine message.
